While the peripheral vestibular signs were explained by
PSOM, the central nervous system signs were attributed to
COMS and syrinx formation. Both brachycephalic airway
syndrome and laryngeal paralysis were also diagnosed and
may have contributed to the patient’s inability to ambulate
given persistent hypoxemia that required intubation and
oxygen supplementation. Surgery to alleviate the upper airway
disease was discussed, but the owner elected euthanasia.
